My name is Aron Lupton. I work as a contractor for Lime, charging and organizing scooters and bikes. For the past 13 months, untreated sleep apnea has progressively taken away my ability to function and work.
Just last year, I was working 6 to 13 hours a day, 5 to 6 days a week — and I loved it. I loved being active in the Boise community, especially talking with people about the Lime scooters and helping them navigate the city. Work gave me purpose and energy.
A formal sleep study confirmed my diagnosis, with an overall AHI of 13.9 and REM AHI of 19.8 — nearly 100 breathing disruptions per night. While technically classified as “mild,” the real-world impact has been anything but.
In January, my condition worsened sharply. The fatigue became overwhelming and constant — far beyond normal tiredness. Chronic sleep disruption led to cognitive fog and nervous system instability. To keep working, I relied on caffeine and prescribed stimulants. Eventually, those began triggering severe panic attacks. Some were intense enough that I went to the ER believing I was dying. In the past week alone, I’ve had four.
I also have a history of depression and anxiety, both significantly worsened by untreated sleep apnea.
The solution is clear: I need an AutoPAP machine. The cost is $1,300 through CPAP Now with additional costs for equipment and compliance appointments and studies so I am asking $1,450. (I will update the goal if I secure a lower price).
AutoPAP therapy is highly effective, with improvement often noticeable within days and recovery over weeks to months.
This is treatable. The barrier is access to the equipment.
Any support helps me restore my health and return to work.
